1st WebinarMeet and Greet Admin – 7:00pm

Jan 22nd.2021 – Friday

Everyone that met tonight was all starting Masters Degrees in all areas, this was just an opening to meet the faculty, and to know who to email for help, and where to find it.

Everyone was so helpful, and I am very impressed by how many learning facility’s there is for each area of study.

Due to amount of questions, everyone typed online, I did get confused as I initially thought it would only be our two cohorts, Ma Indie Game Dev and Ma User experience design.

  • Blog to be set up, all suggested WordPress.
  • Required to use Tags / or Categories
  • Research – Development – Activities – Planning

3rd WebinarFirst Tutorial – Descriptive Vs Analytical Writing – 7:00pm

Feb 3rd.2021 – Wednesday

The most useful webinar so far, found out more about WordPress, discussed the differences between descriptive and analytical writing.

Found myself on the spot, speaking to everyone from around the world, very exciting and nerve wracking. Even though I didn’t understand the analytical process at first, and felt that I couldn’t get out of the habit of writing this way. I now have a better idea of how I should be writing.

But not confident at all…Linkedin here I come!

  • Must access LinkedIn learning
  • Must learn Analytical Writing skills
  • Must update Blog – Add Categories
  • Must complete week 2 activity by Friday 5th

4th WebinarGeneral talk – Blog/sharing work – 7:00pm

Feb 1oth.2021 – Wednesday

A relaxed webinar tonight, started with a general discussion about queries we may have for our blogs, majority wanted to know whether we are writing in the correct reflective way?

The areas that we looked into were:

  • Critical reflective journals – I was desperate to know if my website could be viewed. Relief it can be. Plus we have clarified that each time, we do make notes of the weekly activity and readings, that we do have the reference cited beneath.
  • Bibliography’s – We do need a clear page or category where it can be accessed. I want to try and add a widget, but we will have to wait and see how it looks. Will try and add tags.
  • Individual development practice – I have finally started to add my individual development to my home page – It was confirmed that it is good to keep this separate from our weekly blog posts.
  • Sharing our weekly activity – Patricio and I shared tonight. A little nervous tonight I wasn’t expecting to speak again. But underneath everything, even if I was struggling, I enjoy it so much and still can’t believe that I am on the course.
  • Enquiring who may be interested for student rep – Tutors awaiting emails of anyone interested.

All questions were answered…but I stayed behind for a little longer to discuss with Giavanni, about student rep, where I am in my development so far, and my concern about referencing.

5th WebinarRI Discussion – Sharing work – 7:00pm –

Feb 17th.2021 – Wednesday

A thorough discussion about our interpretations of a Dix it card picked randomly. I was asked to share my thoughts on the card, what I intend to with it, and mention any techniques/ methods that I may use…I can’t wait…I will start tomorrow morning brainstorming on paper first, and see where it takes me. I really enjoy this part.

Plus I volunteered for the Student Rep, position. I wanted to give this ago, as I know I am a good communicator, very positive and create a great atmosphere. Which is what I think we all need in these current times. We need to encourage each other, and focus on what we can do, and if there’s something we can’t or struggle with, that we do our best to improve. Fingers crossed.

I shall be putting the Kanban method to use, taking one step at a time.

One of the skills I intend to work on to is uploading videos, or animations via URL or creating code, to my WordPress.com site.

6th WebinarRI Discussion/ artefact progress – 7:00pm –

Feb 24th.2021 – Wednesday

An evening focusing on how we are going with out rapid ideation projects, a few more people sharing their ideas, and how they have progressed so far.

I am very nervous of sharing mine next week, as I know it needs to be animated, and I don’t want it looking rough, I know I am capable of drawing my concepts on paper, or digital.

But my only reservation is using a new tool…Storyboard Pro. I have done a animation course, on LinkedIn learning, to speed up my learning progress, plus a Storyboard Pro hour tutorial.

All I can do is keep my fingers crossed that my character does move how I want it to as this is my first time of doing this on my own.

7th WebinarRI Reveal – Discussion – Sharing – 7:00pm –

March 3rd.2021 – Wednesday

Tonight’s focus was to see as many rapid ideation projects as possible. But we had lots of issues with the big blue button, which meant we could only view a few projects, which was a shame.

However we managed to continue to engage with each other about the process we took, and if we chose to merge the headline with artefact, and the overall result.

I am very worried at this current time, because I cannot understand certain aspects of my WordPress site, and I found I cannot go any further with my animation. I know it is my first time of creating something like this, but It seems to have staccato movements, and is not fluid.

  • Next skill to improve – is making your character i your animation move more natural.
  • How to use Flash – this follows on from the 2D animator principles in LinkedIn Learning.

8th WebinarNew RI project is revealed – 7:00pm –

March 10th.2021 – Wednesday

This evening we are given a new challenge. Hackathon….

9th WebinarRI – 2nd Session – Discussion – 7:00pm –

March 17th.2021 – Wednesday

Tonight we were due to show our progress of how far we have got with our rapid ideation session 2,

Patricio and I had been working together, on a concept for a game…and tonight was one week since we began. I feel we have accomplished a lot…and I can’t wait to see the end result.

I had the presentation wrote out and saved as a PNG, but for some reason, it wouldn’t show.

However we still managed to read the presentation out, show everything we have been working on so far, the storyboard, and reveal a snippet of the game in action.

We have been offered a solution for speaking on the webcam; to communicate any other ideas, it is easier than trying to type everything.

10th Webinar – RI – 2nd Session – Wk 2 Presentations/ Feedback – 10:00am

March 24th.2021 – Wednesday

Nervous and excited, Patricio and I presented our work to show how far we have come with the Rapid Ideation….session 2.

We are so pleased with the playable demo, of our game.

Jamie made a good suggestion, about us narrating the facts, that pop up from out of the sea, like David Attenborough style…

  • We were asked what we ideally wanted to achieve from this?

For me it was learning to animate, which I have, and also found the best tool to use for uploading animated Gifs to my WordPress site.

  • What skills could we use going forward ?

Now that I have learn’t a little animation… I will start to focus on my professional development piece, and work on animating my story book character Ralphy, and if goes well… Inventing some new and exciting characters to go with him, to start a brand new interactive story telling app.

11th Webinar – Personal Case Study details – 7:00pm-

April 14th.2021 – Wednesday

Jamie wanted to know, If we worked on anything over Easter – and Giovanni gave us our brief for our Personal case study video, worth 80%.

I think we all have our reservations about doing a 5 minute video, as we all know with what we have been studying, been researching, and practicing, would take a lot longer than 5 mins.

Any how I am not fazed about this, as I feel I have accomplished so much, and built up my current skills and gained more. I have already started to put into practice a little tutorial for premiere pro.

I have all the applications downloaded, and ready to go. I am really excited about this, as it gives me, yet another chance to show what skills have been put into action, I have downloaded After effects, Premiere Pro, and Audition ready for creating something memorable, along side Animate CC, Photoshop CC, and Illustrator CC.

12th Webinar -PCSV – Discussion – 7:00pm –

April 21st.2021 – Wednesday

Tonight we got the discussion going, by focusing on what is happening next week. There are 3 meet and greets, with the other Cohort, or Indie Game Dev, and Ux Design.

The aim is to meet them on the webinar, discuss ideas for the start of the next term.

Meet and Greet – times and days to make a note of;

  • Tuesday 27th April 10:00am
  • Wednesday 28th April 1:00pm
  • Thursday 29th April 7:00pm

But of course we had to discuss our videos, where we are with them, what our initial aim, references, to think of our 3 important SMART goals, and connect it to our future ambitions.

Tonight it was Joseph and I that got to speak, I really connected with his approach to how he has put his app together, for the first time, just as I have put a few animatics together for the first time.

Jamie and Giovanni, has really helped me to open my eyes to the possibility of creating an Interactive Story, or App.

  • First step before I start writing again for the video – is to look up google scholar, and find academic references.
  • Create a Personal Case Study Video post – ready for; showing the Transcript and References that are to be included.
  • Research into the age of children that has a mobile device, and the kind of games/ apps that are popular, and even why they on on there mobile devices? Is it to game, or is it only to be social?
